Day 2
ANGKOR WAT

The Dawn Shift.

Tuk-tuk at 4:30am. Angkor Wat opens at 5am, before every other temple in the park, and the first hour belongs to whoever shows up for it.

Local tipThe driver naps between temples. Wake him with cold water and a smile.

Best timing5am-6pm daily
Expected costCovered by your pass
Getting there15 min from town
Local tipDo not leave after the photo. Walk straight in: the temple is quietest in the hour after sunrise.
8:00a

Inside the temple, at its quietest

The sunrise crowds are heading back to hotel breakfast. You go in: the bas-relief galleries, then the Bakan upper level. Real sleeves required up top; a draped scarf gets turned away. Shoulders and knees covered everywhere.

Best timingAll day

Best timingThe pool hour
Expected costLunch ~$3
Getting thereTuk-tuk back to town
